The Pines

The first collection of photographs made by Eric while in Photo II. He then showcased the work at the local Ice House Museum. The works were then loaded into the back of a Volkswagen Rabbit, and displayed at Hey! Café in New Orleans for PhotoNola that same year.

“A time of change, understanding, and plenty of unknowns. I've been rooted in Silsbee, a small town about 30 minutes from Beaumont, Texas. The past two years I’ve looked at this town under new eyes. The broken motel reminds me of early morning rides to school. A kid riding his bike around town, a quiet man getting his ears lowered, the single-screen movie theater, and the rail yard are all places that have played a part in my development. I went around photographing the people and places of Silsbee, in search of an understanding of my character. The quiet air of a small-town Friday night allows for patience and introspection. Silsbee allows for youthful responsibility, kind wisdom, and peaceful harmony.”
